When your body grows or gains weight quickly, as it does during pregnancy, fine lines sometimes develop. These are called stretch marks. This happens when the skin is pulled by growth or stretching. When skin becomes overstretched, the production of collagen is disrupted. As a result, scars called stretch marks may form.
If you're noticing stretch marks on your body, you're not alone. Most females will develop stretch marks, usually on the breasts, thighs, hips, and buttocks. At the Laser Centre, we can easily treat and permanently remove Stretch Marks.
What is the procedure?
Laser light is used to remove thin layers of skin around the stretch mark, in a procedure known as "ablation", which causes the skin tissue (stretch mark) to disintegrate. Once the procedure is complete, the treated area heals forming new layers of healthy skin.
What will it be like after treatment?
Normally the treated area can be red and tender, sometimes simular to a burn injury with some blistering. This is temporary and usually only lasts for a couple of days. Longer recovery can happen depending on the severity of the treatment.
What are the benefits?
- No hospital stay
- Highly effective
- Extreemly safe
- Minimally invasive
- Less recovery time
- More cost effective
Are there any risks?
The risks are minimal, laser removal of stretch marks is very successful. There are some instances where the stretch marks are so well established that they cannot be removed fully only reduced. There is also the risk of blistering, this is only temporary and not serious.
